DJ Alex J. A.K.A Tropical Deep first burst onto the music scene, with the Emotive Record compilation" The Future Sound Of New York". This compilation was a showcase for such New York based talent like Junior Vasquez, Cevin Fisher, DJ Pierre, DJ Duke, and Felix da Housecat. A virtual unknown at the Time, Alex J.'s track "Journeyman" was selected to appear along side these industry heavyweights.

With that exposure Alex went on to record several more EP's for Emotive before relocating to New Jersey, where he began recording music for Authority Records. His first EP for Authority was entitled 'Latex' which pushed their label from obscurity into the forefront of the underground dance music scene. Next Alex got his hand into the remix bag by reconstructing an acappella by Marcia Boynton entitled "You Got a Real Good Love". This track became a staple in Chicago nightclubs and topped several mix show play lists.

Alex has since gone on to record for Nervous Records dropping such staple tracks like "Body and Soul" (a tribute to the New York style garage style party) "Music is My Life" and "Everything is Beautiful" released on Sugar Dish Recordings. "Body and Soul" was licensed by Danny Rampling for his joint compilation with David Morales on React Music.

"Everything is Beautiful" was licensed by Gene Douglas for his Midnight House compilation on
ZYX Music.

Alex J. is currently working for ZYX/Waako Music and has released a DJ compilation entitled "Tropical Deep: Ritmo-a Journey into Rhythmic Lounge Music" that has been released in the U.S and Europe.He has started a Hip Hop group entitled Deviants of Reality and their debut album 'The Art of Mind Travel"was released in 2004 on ZYX Music.They are in the studio working on their new album entitled"Luv,Sex,and Situation". DJ Alex J. currently has a weekly residency at the Echo (Red Bank,N.J.) on Thursay and Saturdays. and bi-monthly party at the Lion's Den in New York on Wed.called Beats and Rhymes.
